This facility is an environmental education center set on 128 acres of nature preserve. Hiking and Nature Study are only part of the program. Sapsucker Woods Bird Sanctuary, 159 Sapsucker Woods Road, Ithaca
The Sapsucker Woods Sanctuary is home to the world-famous Cornell Lab of Ornithology. It has 4.2 miles of trails winding through woodland and over swamps and ponds., along with a ten-acre pond, which is home to waterfowl and other wildlife and a bird-feeding garden. Observatory hours: Mon.-Thurs. 8 am - 5 pm, Fri. 8 am - 4 pm, Weekends 10 am - 4 pm. Trails always open.
